Dr. Pakar,
SAYA Hafis, berumur 24 tahun dan disahkan menghidapi penyakit gout. Saya ingin mendapatkan maklumat tentang pemakanan yang boleh dimakan dan tidak boleh dimakan oleh pesakit gout. Seperti yang saya tahu, pesakit gout tidak boleh mengambil makanan berdaging dan sayuran hijau.

Saya pernah diberitahu oleh doktor bahawa saya boleh memakan telur ayam dan ikan. Tapi, seperti yang saya tahu kedua-duanya adalah sumber protein kepada badan. Jadi adakah ini bermakna kedua-dua makanan tersebut juga akan turut meningkatkan paras asid urik dalam badan saya?

Saya juga diberitahu bahawa saya tidak lagi boleh memakan sayur-sayuran hijau seperti bayam dan kekacang. Jadi saya ingin tahu, makanan apakah yang saya patut ambil untuk menggantikan nutrien yang terdapat di dalam sayuran tersebut kerana saya tidak boleh lagi memakan sayuran.

Oleh itu, saya ingin mengetahui lebih lanjut tentang diet pemakanan yang harus saya ambil agar saya dapat mengurangkan paras asid urik dan mengatasi masalah gout. Bagaimana pula dengan ulam-ulaman seperti petai dan sebagainya? Adakah ulam-ulaman juga termasuk di dalam kategori sayur-sayuran yang tidak boleh dimakan oleh pesakit gout?

Adakah saya tidak boleh langsung memakan makanan tersebut? Bagaimana pula dengan makanan seperti buah-buahan dan makanan berasaskan bijirin serta yang berasaskan susu? Adakah ia juga boleh memberi sebarang kesan kepada penyakit gout? Terima kasih.

Penyakit gout ditakrifkan sebagai penghasilan asid urik secara berlebihan di dalam badan dan ini berlaku dalam keadaan yang mana produksinya bertambah dengan pengambilan secara berlebihan makanan purin berprotein tinggi.

Contohnya, makanan laut (udang, ketam, sotong, dan sebagainya) dan daging merah seperti daging lembu dan kambing disertakan juga dengan gangguan pada perkumuhan asid urik dari badan, mengakibatkan penyakit gout atau berlebihan asid urik dalam badan.

Tidak kesemua makanan yang berprotein meninggikan risiko gout seperti ikan dan telur ayam, akan tetapi harus diingat bahawa gout menyerang seseorang yang mengambil protein secara berlebihan.

Terdapat kajian yang menunjukkan seseorang yang makan daging merah secara berlebihan meninggikan risiko mendapat gout pada kadar 40 peratus dan bagi mereka yang mengambil makanan laut berlebihan (selain ikan) risikonya meningkat kepada 50 peratus untuk mendapat gout.

Dalam kajian yang sama juga menunjukkan pengambilan sayur-sayuran seperti kekacang termasuk kacang pis, bunga kubis, bayam dan cendawan tiada kaitan dengan risiko mendapat gout dan tiada kontraindikasi untuk mengambil susu rendah lemak oleh pesakit gout.

Secara lanjut berkenaan diet gout, berjumpalah dengan pakar dietetik yang berdekatan untuk mendapatkan nasihat yang sewajarnya.

Selain mengawal pemakanan dengan tidak mengambil purin berprotein tinggi seperti yang telah disebutkan di atas secara berlebihan, terdapat ubat-ubatan tertentu yang dapat membantu mengurangkan asid urik dalam badan dan pesakit juga dinasihatkan agar meminum air yang banyak setiap hari bagi membantu perkumuhan asid urik asid dari badan dan mengurangkan risiko mendapat batu karang.

Ringkasnya, pemakanan yang harus dikurangkan/dielakkan adalah protein yang menghasilkan kandungan purin yang banyak, dan purin adalah penyumbang terbesar kepada pembentukan asid urik.

    Rheumatoid arthritis diet: Can certain foods make symptoms worse?
    Diet has long been claimed to be an important factor in the prevention and treatment of arthritis. In particular, it is important to avoid eating an overabundance of acid-forming foods, such as salt, sugar, meat, dairy products, white flour, processed foods, and to eat alkaline-forming foods, like fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains. Incidentally eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and whole foods may also lower your risks of developing many other degenerative conditions such as heart disease and many cancers. Avoid too much coffee, tea, colas; some arthritic sufferers are sensitive or allergic to foods of the deadly nightshade family and should avoid those foods – tomatoes, bell peppers, potatoes, eggplants. Many people with arthritis have controlled their symptoms or have been completely cured by using diet.

    Eliminating refined starches, white sugar and other ‘junk’ food helps reduce chemicals in the diet and increases nutrient levels. Better quality foods can be substituted for poor quality foods. Eating many more vegetables is also helpful. Some arthritis is helped by eliminating allergic foods. The most common are wheat, spelt, cowís milk dairy products and soy. Some people benefit by eliminating citrus fruits and the nightshade family of vegetables – potato, tomato, eggplant and peppers. Any food can cause a reaction in some individuals.

    Perhaps the most important inflammatory conditions to affect humanity are the varieties of arthritis and rheumatism. Throughout the world herbal medicine is used in its treatment. Arthritis is a general term for approximately 100 named diseases that produce either inflammation of connective tissues, particularly in joints, or noninflammatory degeneration of these tissues. The word simply means joint inflammation, but because other structures are also affected, the diseases are often called connective tissue diseases. The terms rheumatism and rheumatic diseases are also used. Besides conditions so named, the diseases include gout, lupus erythematosus, ankylosing spondylitis, degenerative joint disease, and many others. Causes of these disorders include immune-system reactions and the wear and tear of aging, while research indicates that the nervous system may often be equally involved. About one out of seven Americans exhibit some form of arthritis. Many of these diseases are characterized by inflammation in the affected tissue. The usual signs of inflammation (warmth, redness, swelling, and pain) are often present.

    In some conditions, the inflammation is an immune reaction. This may be the body’s defense against invading microorganisms, but often the immune reaction against the body’s own tissue is of unknown cause. The body seems to react against itself rather than against an invading microorganism. Anti-self antibodies react with intact connective tissue and synovial membranes and thus cause inflammation. A common auto-immune form of arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis. Whilst the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are due to inflammation of the connective tissues, the cause is not at all clear. Characteristically the synovial membranes, or inner linings of the joint capsules, are chronically inflamed. The synovial mass proliferates and thereby destroys cartilage, bone and adjacent structures. Widespread inflammation may involve other tissue leading to painful joints, loss of mobility, and a generalized soreness and depression.     The Anti-Inflammation Diet and Recipe Book: Protect Yourself and Your Family from Heart Disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Allergies

    The connection between inflammation and heart disease, arthritis, and other chronic ailments has become increasingly clear.     Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common autoimmune disease in which killer T-cells of the body’s own immune system (most likely triggered by invading bacteria) reprogram themselves to attack joint cartilage, resulting in inflammation and joint destruction. The current treatment strategies of suppressing immunity and inflammation offer only limited success since they do not deal with the underlying causes. Osteoarthritis, on the other hand, is more likely the result of wear and tear or low pH, but again, standard treatments involving pain killers and anti-inflammatories address only the symptoms, not the underlying causes.


    Effect of long-term therapy with transfer factor in rheumatoid arthritis. Specific immunotherapy with transfer factor (TF) was used in a chronic experiment in a group of 50 female patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) stage I-III. The patients were followed up for 24 months, clinical and biologic examinations being repeated every 3 months. In this period the patients received beside the basic nonsteroid antiinflammatory therapy, one unit TF every week over a period of 6 months then one until TF every month (10 patients) to the end of experiment. Of the 50 patients 15 (30%) did not respond to the therapy and the experiments had to be interrupted after 6 months. Excellent, very good and good results were obtained in 35 patients (70%). In 12 patients the response was good but the dose of TF had to be increased to two units/week in the first 6 months. In 13 patients the results obtained were very good and therapy with nonsteroid products + TF was continued even after the first 6 months. In 10 patients with RA stage I the results obtained were excellent and after 6 months the nonsteroid therapy could be interrupted and the therapy was continued only with one unit TF every month. The study confirmed the fact that specific immunotherapy with TF represents an important adjuvant in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)


  2. Saya ingin berkongsi pengalaman.
    Umur saya hari ini 15 Ogos 2009 adalah 45 tahun. Penyakit gout saya bermula pada tahun 1989 iaitu ketika saya sedang belajar di UiTM. Pada mulanya saya terseliuh tapi setahu saya saya tidak terseliuh. Oleh kerana tidak tahu say pergi berurut dan ia bertambah sakit. Saya tidak berubat. Saya biarkan sehingga ia sembuh sendiri. Apabila saya telah bekerja dalam tahun 1991 apabila kaki saya sakit saya pergi ke klinik swasta dan baru saya tahu ada penyakit bernama “gout”. Doktor memberi ubat tahan sakit dan juga injeksen. Sakit saya hilang. Doktor memang menasihaqti saya agar tidak memakan daging kecuali daging ayam dan ikan.
    Ikan juga mestilah ikan yang berdaging putih seperti ikan merah, kerisi, ikan parang dan beberapa jenis ikan lain. Makanan laut selain ikan memang tidak boleh diambil. Selain itu segala jenis kekacang juga tidak boleh diambil. Durian, durian belanda juga tridak boleh diambil kerana mengandungi asid yang tinggi. Selain itu minuman berkarbonat juga hendaklah dijauhi. Organ-organ dalam haiwan juga tidak boleh walaupun ayam.
    Memang susah kalau kita nak berpantang 100% dan kita akan susah kalau kita tidak berpantang.
    Saya ambil pendekatan saya sendiri… sekiranya terlalu teringin contohnya durian… calit dengan jari dan rasa dengan lidah. Kalau udang… ambillah seekor yang kecil… Apa yang dapat saya simpulkan… jauhi makanan yang memang mengandungi kandungan purin yang tinggi… yang akan meningkatkan uric asid dan seterusnya akan membentuk kristyal-kristal yang amat menyakitkan.
    Hanya yang pernah kena gout tahu macamana sakinya.

  6. Asid Urik ialah antioksiden yang dikeluarkan oleh sitem badan kita untuk melawan oksigen bebas (radikal bebas) untuk kita hidup. Apabila pembuatan asid urik terlebih maka urik asid terkumpul mencjadi kristal dalam sendi dan timbullah radangan dan sakit gout.
    Cara mengatasinya ialah agar badan kita tidak membuat terlalu banyak antioksiden ini. Caranya ialah dengan memakan antioksiden dari buah-buahan dan sayur-sayuran.

HI…!saya ingin berkongsi pengalaman,pada suatu hari saya telah pergi berjumpa doktor untuk medical checkup.semualah dia periksa tekanan darah,jantung dan saya ada tingalkan sedikit sampel darah untuk diperiksa.apabila keputusan ujian keluar, semua kandungan yang ada dalam darah saya ok!kecuali paras asid urik saya tinggi 5.8mg.walaupun begitu belum ada bahagian badan saya yg bengkak atau pun sakit.doktor bagi saya ubat alopurinol,makan sebiji sehari selama 3 bulan. 3 bulan berlalu dan saya pergi buat pemeriksaan.hasilnya kandungan uric asid saya berkurangan ke 3.2mg.doktor kurangkan dos kepada 1/2 biji sehari dan sambung makan ubat selama 6 bulan.kadang2 saya makan,kadang2 tak makan ubat tu sehingga berminggu-minggu.6 bulan berlalu dan minggu lepas saya pergi chek…!waduh pak..!tinggi bangat2..! 8.2mg..!salah saya juga,mulut tak kontrol..so saya teruskan makan ubat dan harus lebih berdisiplin dalam penjagaan makanan.WAITING FOR THE NEXT 3 MONTH.

      biasanya..kebas2 tangan dan kaki disebabkan oleh saraf…jika kebas2 pada tangan ia berkemungkinan perjalanan darah tidak lancar…saudsri diet atas nasihat dokor ke?!..sekiranya berat badan saudari ideal…x perlula terlalu diet…bimbang akan menambahkan lagi risiko sakit saudari…untuk maklumat lanjut boleh ke fb page saya sihatdengansupplemet…atau blehlh bg email saudari kepada saya dan sya akan hantar info2 yg berkaitan dgn masalah yg saudari hadapi sekarang…
